It doesn't recognize CR2 but will save images as TIFF files. The program is rather cumbersome as the scanning window seems to hang often (it will slowly go over various file types). The card is not damaged but ejected itself. It recovered ALL my files of all types a couple times when I had a problem with a spinner hard drive. My file recovery software that I have used various version for several years is File Scavenger.

If NO for BOTH, then i suggest you search for File recovery program(s) that can recover CR2 files. Also, is the card Reader damaged without bent or broken contacts. Using chk-back or even just simply changing the file extension to cr2 seems to recover one RAW file (fine by me but not my top choice), but the output file leads me to suspect there are multiple cr2 files inside. I was unable to access my card until I used chkdsk /f on the file, which deleted several images (I believe 2-3 cr2 which I had been browsing with FastStone Viewer, and one TIF which was being opened in Topaz Sharpen AI before the card ejected) and produced a 153MB CHK file. Today my SD card reader had some issues recognizing my card after it 'ejected' itself (probably due to faulty contacts).
